A
Theater
The
Solvang Festival Theater is a 700-seat open air arena theater on Second
Street in the heart of the city of Solvang, California. The theater house
and exterior are reminiscent of both provincial Danish and Elizabethan
architecture, with timbered walls and turrets. During a summer night’s
performance one can look up into the stars as well as at the performers
on stage. For both visitors and residents, the theater provides a unique
professional venue for the performing arts in the beautiful Santa Ynez
Valley.
And a Community Vision
Solvang
Theaterfest is a nonprofit community-based organization which owns and
operates the Solvang Festival Theater. From June through October the theater
is the home of a professional company based in Santa Maria, California.
The theater is also used for community events such as dance performances,
concerts, fundraisers as well as Solvang Theaterfest’s own theater
workshops for young people.
Solvang Theaterfest is entirely funded by the community through its Annual
Fund Drive, Patron Program and various other special events. Proceeds
from ticket sales go directly to the performing entities and do not fund
theater operation.
To continue to provide a first-class theater in the Santa Ynez
Valley, the leadership of Solvang Theaterfest has launched an ambitious
$1.5 million capital campaign: A Stage for All Reasons.
This campaign will make possible much-needed upgrades to the Solvang Festival
Theater, as well as create a small new performance and community pavilion.
This project will greatly enhance the theater complex for both patrons
and performers and allow Solvang Theaterfest to become one of California’s
top live theater destinations.
