Robert Cray has been bridging the lines between blues, soul, and R&B for four decades. The winner of five Grammy Awards and the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance, Cray was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2011. Bonnie Raitt lauded Cray as putting on “one of the best shows you’ll ever see.”
Cray has more than 20 albums to his name. He has had writing collaborations with fellow blues guitarist/vocalist Eric Clapton, was invited by Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards to be in the film he produced about Chuck Berry, and was Tina Turner’s Special Guest Star on her groundbreaking Break Every Rule TV special in 1987. Cray’s latest album, the 2017 “Robert Cray with Hi Rhythm” was universally acclaimed. In 2018, MusicRadar magazine named him, "one of the best blues guitarists in the world."
Robert Cray lives in the Santa Ynez Valley with his wife, Sue Turner Cray, and their son. We are honored that this music legend is taking the Solvang Festival Theater stage for the first time!
